Communicator 4.6 Mail setup

The following information will help you in setting up Netscape Communicator 4.0 for email. First, at the top of the screen, click on Edit then click on Preferences. When the Preferences box comes up, click on the + sign directly to the left of Mail & Newsgroups. Next, click one time on Identity and you will see this

Read the text below each window to determine the proper settings for your geographical location.

The important part here is to put in you full name in the first box and your email address in the second box
The username will be the same as your login name

The important part here is to put in your full name, or your company name in the first blank.

If you have your own domain, you will use username@yourdomain.com, net, or org.

If you are part of the PIIAI network, yours will be, yourcompany@piiai.net.

Highlight Mail Server on the tree to the left and you will see this screen.

Your outgoing mail server should remain the same as your current internet provider's SMTP server.

Next put in your username. This will be the same as your email address.

If you have your own domain, your username will be username@yourdomain.com, net, or org.

If you are part of the PIIAI network, yours will be,yourcompany@piiai.net.

Now we will complete the incoming information at the top of the screen.

Next click the Add button if the above white box is blank, or Edit if it caontains information.

You will be presented with the following screen.

If you have your own domain, your incoming mail server should be set to mail.yourdomain.com, net, or org.

If you are a part of the PIIAI network, your incoming mail server should be set as mail.piiai.net.

The server type should be set to POP 3

The mail server user name will be the same as your e-mail address.

This completes the mail setup for Netscape Communicator.
