Netscape Communicator 4.0 Mail setup

The following information will help you in setting up Netscape Communicator 4.0 for email. First, at the top of the screen, click on Edit then click on Preferences. When the Preferences box comes up, click on the + sign directly to the left of Mail & Groups. Next, click one time on Identity and you will see this

Read the text below each window to determine the proper settings for your geographical location.

The important part here is to put in your full name, or your company name in the first blank.

If you have your own domain, your e-mail will be username@yourdomain.com, net, or org.

If you are part of the PIIAI network, yours will be,yourcompany@piiai.net.

Highlight Mail Server on the tree to the left and you will see this:

The mail server user name will be the same as your email address.

If you have your own domain, your incoming mail server should be set to mail.yourdomain.com, net, or org, and your outgoing mail server should remain the same as your current internet provider's SMTP server.

If you are a part of the PIIAI network, your incoming mail server should be set as mail.piiai.net, and your outgoing mail server should remain the same as your current internet provider's SMTP server.

This completes the mail setup for Netscape Communicator.

SpringNet Tip: If you would like to save your e-mail password so that you don't have to type it in every time you log on to the mail server, click More Options on the above screen. Then check the box for save password on the ensuing screen.
